Acrylics and sewing, 2025, 50 × 50 cm. This painting was born on a journey between Italy and Spain, capturing a vivid praying mantis poised between two elemental extremes: the searing heat of fire and the icy calm of water. Bold swathes of hot reds and cool blues clash and merge around the mantis, each brushstroke balancing the energy of warmth and cold in harmonious opposition. Delicate threads are sewn into the canvas, literally weaving together these polar forces and adding texture that invites touch. The piece was completed in collaboration with a collector, infusing personal connection into its final form and celebrating the unity found in duality.
