Los Balazos is a painting and sewing artwork created in 2022, measuring 116×61 cm. This piece immortalizes a shocking personal experience. The towel, once attached to the artist’s backpack, became part of an intense moment when he was unexpectedly shot at in Encuentro Park, San Cristóbal de las Casas. Arriving late at the gate, the artist startled Don Antonio, the park’s keeper, who, in fear, defended himself with gunfire.
A week later, the artist returned to the scene to process the event through painting. The resulting artwork transforms trauma into storytelling, capturing both the intensity of the moment and the resilience of artistic expression.
