00 00 00 NO BRAND / Art Performance for Palestine

Through this performance, I want to express the need for a recalibration of values. My belief is that human life should be the priority, and that neither the state nor religion should have the authority to violate it. The common sense that guides most people in the world, who do not want war, who will not kill someone today, should be respected. It should prevail. It should be reality.

This idea is a continuation of the performance that took place in October, Cin,Se,Set,Ott. By mixing dance and painting, we want to express the action in an abstract way. Anima or “animus” are words that reflect our human nature. Through our being and our action, we reveal our spirit, the witness of life.

We created a colorful art project using canvas, paint, and dresses. We laid a piece of white fabric on the floor, similar to a blank flag. We filled some bags with different colors of watercolor and tie-dye paint, and attached them to white or light-colored dresses. We wore the dresses and performed a break dance on the fabric, bursting the bags and splashing the paint. The result was a stunning flag artwork and a collection of vibrant dresses.

 

Why did I choose to focus my attention on garments?


Clothes are one of the primary media of communication. We are supposed to use them to express our feelings and peculiarities, but often (almost always) we misunderstand the medium and it becomes a way to express differences and equalities. For exemple religion, military, and subcultures use this medium to divide and point the attention to the color or the shape, forgetting that the body under the dress is almost 99% the same shape for everyone (with just a few protuberance changes).

CIN, SE, SET, OTT/ Art Performance

What if movements could be transformed into something concrete and lasting? In 2021, in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, this question inspired the idea of creating a painting where the main subject is movement. Two years later, the idea was realized, thanks to the collaboration of Luca de Pravato and a team of artists. Christian’s imminent departure for new adventures provided the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together for this unique and unrepeatable Art Performance.The result is a 3x2m painting that pulses with energy and serves as a common thread that binds the painter’s other works together. The painting is not just a depiction of movement, but rather a physical manifestation of movement itself. It was created using a variety of techniques, including body painting, dance. The artists moved and danced around the canvas, leaving their traces behind in the form of paint and body prints.The painting is a celebration of the human body and it’s potential for movement and expression. It is also a reminder that art can be created in many different ways, and that there are no limits to what artists can achieve.

"Painting 40 meters in the air, suspended by a rope and with an unstable canvas, was an exhilarating way to push my boundaries and challenge my my inner child skills as a painter."

5.15d LOOK DOWN / Art Performance

5.15 LOOK DOWN (2021) is an art performance in which painting is created through a bodily sport discipline.
The artwork was produced during a live action on a rock wall, with the artist suspended by a rope at approximately 40 meters above ground.

The resulting painting depicts a falling climber. The safety rope transforms into an umbilical cord, connecting the human body to an organic, post-human form. The image reflects a moment of suspension between control and loss, birth and transformation.

Developed during the Covid period, the performance addresses themes of isolation, physical presence and shared risk, reactivating the body as a relational space. The work marks the beginning of a series of art performances in which the creative process moves outside the studio and becomes a collective experience.

5.15 LOOK DOWN is conceived as an installation composed of the physical painting and the original video documentation of the performance. Painting and video coexist as inseparable elements of a single work, activating the viewer’s imagination and triggering new possibilities of creative thinking.

I have always been fascinated by heights, and I have always loved the challenge of learning new things. So, when I had the opportunity to paint 40 meters in the air, I jumped at the chance. I knew that it would be a challenge, but I was also confident that it would be a rewarding experience.

I spent weeks preparing for the performance. I practiced painting with a rope and harness, and I worked on developing techniques for painting on an unstable surface. I also worked on developing a concept for the performance. I wanted to create a painting that would capture the feeling of being suspended in the air, and the sense of freedom and possibility that comes with being at such a high altitude.

On the day of the performance, I was nervous but excited. I knew that I was ready for the challenge. I climbed to the top of the 40-meter wall and began to paint. The wind was whipping at my face, and the canvas was swaying in the breeze, but I was able to focus on my painting. I lost myself in the creative process, and the hours flew by.

When I finished the painting, I was exhausted but exhilarated. I had pushed myself to my limits, and I had created something truly unique. The painting was a reflection of my personal journey, and it was a celebration of my passion for painting and for heights.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have created this performance/canvas. It was a challenging but rewarding experience, and it has helped me to grow as a painter and as a person. I hope that my work will inspire others to push their boundaries and to pursue their passions.
