Luca De Pravato is a play on words by Italian mixed media artist Luca Pravato. In his mother tongue, depravato, means depraved.
Mixing shock value with deep human senses, he confronts the viewer while inviting them in. He works to expose the human soul – even the depraved human souls. Luca has made art all his life, he mostly paints with acrylic, oil and watercolour.
His degree in Fashion Design and Visual Art (Venice 2010) was the grounds for intense experimentation. With hungry hands, he tried every medium he could hold. Sewing together a style of his own. Layers of paint and thread weave hidden souvenirs into canvas and towel.
These timestamps connect each piece to their place in history and encourage you to look at the world in all of its pieces.
Using his life experience and undying curiosity – to make art, is to play!
"Second is a great result, First is always having great fun!”
ITALIAN YOUTH (2006 – 2016)
These were years of artistic exploration, where painting served as an escape from his primary career in fashion. Creativity in fashion and painting, though intertwined, followed different rules. His early works were a fusion of assemblage, material layering, carving, and bricolage—a restless search for expression.
BERLIN YEARS (2017 – 2020)
Early works and exhibitions in Berlin explored the sense of touch—culminating in the De-Touch series.
His first art performance took place at WaterGate Club (2018), live painting for Impress Berlin.
MEXICO TOWEL (2020 – 2022)
Craving community and collaboration, Luca left the EU, launching his art performances into new dimensions.
During the pandemic, 5.15 Lockdown was born—a commitment to his longest, ongoing project, continuously reshaped and reinvented.
The Towel Travel concept met performance art through Colectivo Mudra in San Cristóbal de las Casas.
A collective exhibition in 2022 led to his residency at SoHo Gallery, Mérida.
ITALIAN THERAPY (2023 – 2024)
Returning to his hometown, Luca immersed himself in deep introspection.
His latest series reflects a period of personal therapy, where the influence of Mexico’s colors and textures meets Freudian introspection.
FROM 2024 IN SPAIN
After two years without travel, the artist has repacked his bags. Now in Northern Spain, he explores the mountain landscapes of Montsant and Siurana, creating and preparing for the next evolution of his art performances.
Luca is ready to go wherever his art takes him.
